Working Less & Making More

Embrace your worth

Every year I choose a tagline and this year’s is “Working Less & Making More“. So since January 2023, I’ve been learning what that phrase really means for me & how to make it my reality.

I used to be that person who panicked whenever things slowed down even for a moment. I felt like I wasn't doing enough or doing it right if I didn’t work at least 8 hours a day every single day.

When literally the week before, I would have had a jam-packed schedule with client meetings, proposals, and hosting influencer events – like, girl, I would be on fire! And yet, I still questioned myself during my moments of rest.

That's when it hit me – I left my corporate job because I didn’t want to have to work a strict 8-hour day if I didn’t want to.

I had asked the universe for a job that didn't tie me down to an eight-hour grind, and guess what? It delivered, but I was still feeling some guilt about it.

Some weeks, I'm hustling for 10 hours a day, and other weeks, I barely clock an hour a day – and you know what? That's a blessing! I had to stop jumping to guilt so quickly and embrace the sacredness of my rest time because my business is built around my valuable skills and not my hours.

Which would you choose?

Time does NOT equal money. Think about it. You can always get more money with a part-time job, take out a loan, ask a friend, etc., but none of us can ever get more time. Once it’s gone it’s gone!

Value yourself through self-care, growth, quality time with loved ones, and saying no to things that don't align with your standards. We determine our self-worth, and we can't let anyone else do it for us!

You know those high-end brands we drool over? They don't give themselves away for cheap. They have a clear vision, a focused mission, and they cater exclusively to their audience. They're all about quality, not quantity – just like that Birkin bag, meticulously handcrafted. So, how can we elevate ourselves and our businesses with that luxury mindset to be compensated for our worth without working harder?

Well, Ralph Waldo Emerson's Law of Compensation says the more we contribute, the more we get compensated. Jim Rohn reminds us that we get paid for the value we bring, not the time we spend. So how can we find more ways to add value to the marketplace or contribute to society to receive greater compensation? By working smarter, not harder! By investing in yourself and becoming the best version of yourself, you increase your value to the marketplace.

I hear those objections creeping in – doubt, overthinking, and fear of being seen as lazy. Trust me, we've all been there. The only thing I can tell you is that you have to believe you can have something different to experience something different. There were weeks when I worked my a** off for little reward, and there were weeks when I barely worked and earned a fortune. I’ve done brand deals that took no more than 3 hours and got paid thousands for it. I’ve also had jobs where I worked 8+ hours and barely made $100. It’s up to you to decide what you’d like to experience in your life.

Here’s a framework to help you start making more and working less:

  1. Shift Your Mindset: Value your time, and it becomes more valuable.

  2. Discover Your Skills: Identify your passions and values and work on becoming the best at them.

  3. Personal Development: Embrace growth in all aspects of life, from skills to self-care.

  4. Charge for Your Value: Share your skills with others and provide value that people will pay for.

  5. Continuous Improvement: Keep honing your craft, elevate your skills, and watch your value skyrocket.

You've got this! Embrace your worth, work smarter, and let quality lead the way.

You hold the key to your abundance, and it starts with valuing yourself. So let's stop feeling guilty about working less and valuing ourselves more.

Embrace the luxury mindset, where quality matters over quantity. Know the value of your time and talents.

You are worth it, and by investing in yourself, you'll attract abundance and success beyond your imagination.

Keep shining bright.

With love and abundance,

Diamond
